Today’s journey began in Rabat, where we toured the royal palace, Roman ruins, a kasbah (fortress), the medina, and a golden tower that collapsed in 1961 leaving only the brown-stone bottom half. We set off for Fez around 1pm and stopped for lunch at a roadside meat joint, where a man was hawking decorative rifles. We made it to our destination just in time to watch the sun set over Fez. We finished the day with dinner at our riad: eleven vegetarian tapas-syle appetizers and a lamb-couscous tagine. Today was a great day.
